This morning Spain Startup-South Summit presented the Entrepreneurship Map 2020 report , a study that analyzes the situation of the Spanish entrepreneur ecosystem and reviews its evolution over the last seven years. The report has taken into account a sample of 1,800 startups of the 3,800 projects registered for the Startup Competition , from which the 100 finalist startups for the omnichannel edition of South Summit 2020 have been chosen , which will be held in Madrid from October 6 to 8 . The Entrepreneurship Map 2020 reveals that 6 out of every 10 Spanish “startup entrepreneurs” are recurring since they have created at least two startups . This is the highest figure since this report began in Spain and is in line with the rest of the ecosystems such as Europe (65%), Asia (59%), the United States and Canada (66%). %) and Latam (74%). Furthermore, in Spain 44% of these serial entrepreneurs have launched more than two projects and 8% more than four . 63% of entrepreneurs in Spain are recurring, the highest figure in the seven years of the @south_summit Entrepreneurship Map . The entrepreneur is inclined towards innovation thanks to technologies such as AI and Machine Learning in areas such as health (40%), B2B and digitalization projects (15%), energy (9%) and transportation or logistics (9%). Startups have an average lifespan of 2.5 years , according to the report, which also echoes the growth of "scaleups" , projects with highly consolidated business models, in the phase of greatest development, which have registered average growth of turnover or employees of 20% annually over a period of three years. Spain registers 15% of "scaleups" , in Europe the percentage is 14%, in Asia 15%, in the United States and Canada 16%, and in Latam 26%. According to the 2020 Entrepreneurship Map, 76% of startups have between 2 and 10 employees , 30% more than in 2019. In 2021, 66% of projects want to hire new professionals in their teams. 12% of startups in Spain have positive EBITDA Startups in Spain have on average three founders and 4 out of 10 have teams made up of men and women , 6% more than in 2019.
